Fragments from the dance performance “Pretpoli” at the contemporary art mini-festival “Harvest Festival”.

Can we truly distinguish lies from truth? How often do we question the reliability of the news we consume? “Pretpoli” explores the influence of media on how we perceive the world, shape our values, and form opinions about society. What we encounter in the media often bears little resemblance to the complex reality of everyday life.

In today’s oversaturated information environment, navigating truth is increasingly difficult. Fake news, conspiracy theories, and manipulative interpretations of facts spread rapidly, while people frequently accept and share content on social media without questioning its source. Through movement, the dancers embody ideological archetypes who confront one another in a shared public space, each striving to assert their version of truth. The performance becomes a battlefield—an arena where opinions and bodies collide in sharp, visceral conflict.  

This event is supported by the Vidzeme Culture Program 2025, implemented by the Vidzeme Planning Region within the State Cultural Capital Fund’s target program “Latvian Historical Lands Development Program.”
