Sol Garcia
Sol Garcia is a performer, choreographer and teacher based in Portugal. Her artistic practice is deeply rooted in movement research, physical dramaturgy, and the exploration of interdisciplinary approaches to contemporary dance. With a focus on somatic awareness and emotional depth, her work navigates the intersections of body, memory, and space, often incorporating elements of video, sound, and scenography.
Committed to collaborative and process-driven creation, Sol has worked across various artistic contexts, fostering dialogues between dance, sound, science, and technology. She engages in educational and mentorship roles, sharing her expertise in movement methodologies and creative processes.
She was a guest performer for the projects Feinprobe Honigsüss – The Oversweet Experience and The Movement of Our Roots in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Germany, in 2008/2009 and 2010. Since 2009, she has been working as a performer, participating in creations by Victor Hugo Pontes, Benvindo Fonseca, Tiago Rodrigues, Hofesh Shechter, Olga Roriz, Companhia Erva Daninha, Nuno Preto, Albano Jerónimo, Joana Providência, Companhia Instável, Clara Andermatt, João Lucas, and Roberto Olivan. In 2024, she joins the cast of the film A Pedra Sonha Dar Flor, by Rodrigo Areias, and the European Collective for Research in Contemporary Dance, iCoDaCo – International Contemporary Dance Collective.
