Manuel Martin
Graduate in Choreography and Performance (C.S.D María de Ávila), Manuel is an independent dancer and has studied Fine Arts in Madrid. Simultaneously, he developed the technique of Breakdancing training in the streets, which led him to join the Dani Pannullo DanceTheatre company in 2002 (Madrid). He trained Contemporary Dance and Contact improvisation in New York, Berlin and Madrid. He is part of and collaborates with the companies; Antonio Ruz, Sharon Fridman and Zerogrammi (Italy). He worked at Movimiento en Red (Association of dance professionals in Cantabria).
In 2010, together with Rebeca García Celdrán, they created the company Mymadder (movement and creation) which they direct from their base in Cantabria.
His solo ‘HANGAR’ participated in the Cortoindanza competition (Cagliari) in 2017, obtaining two creation and programming residencies at the LOGOS Festival (Sardinia) and in Lazio (Rome) and Special Mention for the Language of Creation. In 2019 it is programmed at the Direzioni Altre Festival (Tuscania), and also receives a commission from the CENTRO BOTIN (Santander) for the research and creation of a piece that dialogues with the viewer of the CALDER STORIES exhibition (Alexander Calder), making an intervention with the work. In 2022 premiered the piece ‘El pays más pequeño…’ after residencies in CDAT (Santander), CASA LUFT (Torino) Italy, CC Konvent de Sant Agustí (Barcelona) and Centro Cultural San Chinarro (Madrid). In 2023 he works on the Macbeth Opera at the Gran Teatre del Liceu under the choreographic creation of Antonio Ruz and the direction of Jaume Plensa (Barcelona).
He is nominated for best national dancer for Pharsalia by the Antonio Ruz company, at the Max Awards (Spain).
