Jasper van Luijk

Jasper van Luijk studied dance at the ArtEZ School of Dance in Arnhem. In 2012, he won the ITs Choreography Award as a recently graduated choreographic talent. He went on to create work under the auspices of, among others, De Nieuwe Oost, Dansateliers, Korzo, and Maas Theater en Dans.

SHIFFT is the dance company of choreographer Jasper van Luijk, founded in 2017. His work is rooted in the world around him, engaging with the themes that resonate with him in contemporary society. Artistic encounter—both with dancers and with collaborators from other artistic disciplines—lies at the heart of his practice. Through a rich artistic exchange, he creates work that he shares with audiences both in theatres and in distinctive, non-traditional locations.

Alongside SHIFFT, Jasper served as Artistic Director of the Moving Futures Festival from 2020 to 2023 and worked as a programmer for the Café Theater Festival. He is currently an advisor to the Amsterdam Arts Council (Amsterdamse Kunstraad) and the community manager of the new cultural hub at Berlijnplein in Utrecht Leidsche Rijn.
